Default 883 Low?

Hola- I'm looking through various sales pages and noticing a fair amount of 883 Lows being offered, usually for 1-2K less than a comparably aged and mileage Iron 883. Is the 883L simply a 'less desirable' bike or is there something inherently wrong with them?

For my part, I'd just as soon put a Iron 883 tank on a Low and call it a day (I don't like the stock tanks on the Lows or the 1200's looks-wise).

Same engine, same frame. same gearing, 4.5 gallon tank, different handle bars different size wheels. See one in my signature. I love mine.

People like the iron for some reason that escapes me.

The 883l is a better base setup. Better wheels and tires too... also mid-glide front end. iron is narrow glide front end.

Wink

Be aware that there are two 883L models, earlier ones simply being known as 'Low', later ones as the SuperLow, which is still in production. The Low was introduced in 2005 and made through until 2010, with 19" front and 18" rear wheels. The SuperLow was introduced in 2011, with 18" front and 17" rear wheels and low profile tyres.

I'm pretty sure my 2010 883L has a 16" rear wheel. But as I am typing this, I am second guessing myself.

Thanks for spotting, you're perfectly right, I mis-typed that....

I am sure my 2014 Superlow has an 18 front and a 17 rear with low profile radial tires.

Yup, you have the newer configuration. More even, better than the old 19" & 16" combo imho.

No worries. You had me wondering!! Was always wondering what the differences were between the Low and Superlow.
