Default Electrical issues

Hey guys I'm new here was hoping someone could help me figure this issue out a few weeks ago I was out riding did like 250 miles everything was great we got back into town stopped for some tacos on the west side then came out went to start my bike up and it half turned over then all power shut off so I got towed home checked all the fuses were good have 12 volts on both sides of the breaker then I noticed with the key on accessory position my gauges would light up and odometer worked but turn the key all the way forward and nothing so I checked the ignition switch wires and it has a constant 12v and with accessories on 1 is powered and both are powered with the key all the way forward. I'm not sure what to check next any help is appreciated also I have a 99 sportster 1200

Maybe a dumb question, but did you make sure the connections to the battery are tight and clean? The reason I ask is I had the same thing happen to me and it turned out to be a loose battery connection
