Default Sportster newer style fork questions

Im looking into updateing my forks now. Was going to use race tech, but not sure now. My 18 Iron forks use the new style forks that has two different internals. Im torn between a Honda xl600 conversion or a set of older sportster forks, then add some 2 inch longer tubes and update the internals with new springs and gold valves.
I want to gain more travel, and better suspension action. Im not sure if the brake caliper mounting tabs are different on older tubes. Mine is a single disc. Also not sure if I can just buy a new lower tube that accepts a spring to match the one on mine. I also have not figured out which fork tube has the spring and which tube has the cartridge or whatever its using.

Since posting thus, I found a shop called Track-er Die in Corona CA that has what is needed in a cartridge eliminator kit, along with xtra long damper tubes to gain alittle more travel. Just need the kit and a set of race tech springs and im adding gold valves and preload adjusters also.

I have Emulators in my 2011 Sporty and cannot recommend them, they haven't made any worth-while improvement IMHO. I have however used Intiminators in my Glide and been pleased with them. Now Ohlins stuff is quite something else!

After doing some research, I think I will pass on the emulators for now. Im just going with the cartridge eliminator kit along with the extended length damping tubes, new race tech springs and the preload adjusters.
The emulaters just seem like more added complications in adjustment, which is not what im after at this point. I just want to raise the travel a inch or so, which the extended damping tubes will allow. And get a better responce from the front end. Which the springs should help with.

What I found with my SuperLow is that sag on the stock forks was over 50% of total travel - it should be around 1/3rd. So before you finalise your fork rebuild do check that your sag is at the right level. Correcting mine lifted my front end almost an inch from stock.
