Oil filter, by pass or no by pass.

He said he replaced the pistons and hond out the cylinders + other valve train parts . He had it for like 4 months. First time he put the motor back together and heard a noise from one of the cylinders he said it didn’t get hond out correctly be cause he followed the manufacturer instead of what he thought it should be. New pistons and rehond again he got it back together. Now I’m getting (I think) motor oil in th tranny according to another post I made about what I thought was a crank case breather but it the tranny breather that’s puking oil out. I’ve yet to get into the garage and start looking at things one of the guys told me to look at and illiminate.

No way he could have honed it and got a engine that will last
It should have either been bored and then honed for a crosshatch or cylinders replaced.
If I had done it for my self on the cheap and I have done a bunch of inframe overhauls.
But paying someone to do it is different.
Hope that's just my pessimistic attitude. It's truely hard even for those that bore and fit new pistons to get it right.
If you look at the design tolerance on how close a new Harley runs in piston clearance, it truely amazing for an air cooled motor.
When a Harley motor wears out enough to be torn down, there's nothing left to hone and get it round and in tolerance. And you can't get round using a crosshatch pattern hone unless cylinder starts round.
You need the real Sporty expert on what you said about the oil transfer. That didn't make sense to me. Not a expert on a 2016 Sportster oiling system.
It's different then a TC.
