Default Oil Everywhere!

What do you guys use to catch the oil after you lossen / remove the oil filter during a oil change? Tried using a cut-up milk jug and it worked OK but not great.

There was a post last week regarding oil spillage during changes.
I use aluminum foil and does help alot.
Do a search and you will find the old post. There were several items available each with their own benefits and design variations. One was a flexible funnel that retained any shape.

I always use one of those plastic ziploc bags. First I loosen the oil filter then I slip the ziploc bag over the filter and continue to remove it. Once it is unscrewed I hold the bag against the bike while the oil drains and catch the oil and filter inside the bag. Then I zip it closed and lay aside for disposal later. That catches most of the oil and frees my hands to continue. Any oil that drips, I spray with brakecleaner and rinse off.

MbSOB, you can try cutting an oil bottle to catch the oil drips.
Similar to what you tried with the milk jug I suppose, but if you cut the 1 qaurt oil jug with the narrow side down it might be an easier fit for you.
make sure it at least 4 inches long ( tongue) and maybe 1/4inch deep, with the oil cap attached this will give you something to hold onto and allow the oil to drain into that end as well as allowing the filter to drop onto the tongue end.
It wont get it all, but most of it, best part is it is free to make.

I've tried all the tricks and tin foil works the best so far. The product that dawg sent a link for last week looks pretty cool and I might order one of those.

I use an old derby cover gasket, it works pretty good for the filter.

I use a cut up soda bottle, but before I remove the filter, I poke a hole near the bottom in the end of the filter and another in the top for vacuum relief and drain the filter before I remove it. Takes a little longer but a lot less mess.
