Default Early 1984 XLH Oil filter

Just a quick question on oil filter for an early 1984 XLH 1000. Just picked this bike up last year, 9800 original miles. Just getting around to getting it back on the road. Having a hell of a time trying to find the correct oil filter. Locally or online for that matter. Every time I bring what they tell me is the correct one Home, it does not fit! Anybody out there know the correct modern part number for this filter? My local Harley dealer is over an hour away.

Have you tried Dennis Kirk, or ebay?

63782-80 OIL FILTER (CHROME) Shows no longer available.

63805-80A*OIL FILTER (LATE MODEL)*

63810-80A OIL FILTER (BLACK)

These are the three listed for 1984 Sportster XLH, on Ronnie's HD microfiche. Not sure what "LATE MODEL" means, perhaps that's why you are having difficulty with the correct filter.

Here's one on Ebay:

1982 to Early 1984 has M16 x 1.5mm mounting threads and Late 1984 onward has 3/4" x 16 threads according to Sportsterpedia.

Late 84's have an alternator. Oil filter goes where the genny used to be. The MoCo kept that feature with the Evo Sportsters.

Default Early 1984, Ironhead XLH 1000

Thanks John, I appreciate the effort on the part numbers. I’m made the hour drive down to my local Harley dealer. They had the right oil filter, granted it’s three times the cost because it says Harley Davidson on it just wanted to let everybody know that Harley Davidson has changed the part number for that particular filter. It covers 82 to early 84XLH 1000. The part # is 63805–80. Thanks to all that have responded.

Sorry, jumped the gun on those part numbers for the oil filter for an Early 1984 XLH 1000. Those numbers in the previous post were incorrect. Never had such a hard time finding an oil filter! Finally a guy at Napa, who was very helpful,by chance ordered one in that he thought might fit my bike last week, went and saw him today and it is the correct filter. It is a Napa gold oil filter part number 7013. Hope this will help somebody out in the future. My local Harley Davidson dealer was no help to me whatsoever. Now I have to make an hour drive back there to get my money back on a $22 oil filter because it said Harley Davidson on it !

And that is also the same as a WIX 57013 if you need it for future reference.
