Low sitting sportys vs high sitting ones
I know a lot of you have customs, so don't take this post the wrong way
When I decided to get back to riding Harley's again, I sat on a lot Sporty's.....XR's , standards, customs, etc.
I didn't really care for how low a lot of them set (cept for the Nightster....loved that...but that's a whole nuther subject). I'm over 6', and I think the XR's and standards have more of the feel of the older sportys, and fit me a bit better.
So my q is, for you taller guys in here, would you rather sit low or hi on a sporty? They're all great bikes, and am just wondering if sitting lower changes the handling, etc.

RE: Low sitting sportys vs high sitting ones
I like the seat height of the 1200R but liked the look and forward controls of the custom better, so bought a Custom. I have gone against the tide and raised the rear about 3/4 when selecting progressive 412 shocks (12") and it seems raised the front an inch or so with the progressive springs. Not a high as the 1200R, but an excellent ride for me. 6'4" 230lb

I prefer the looks of the sporty when they sit low. To me it gives it the "street fighter look". I have ridden my friends '96 XL1200S which sits high like the 1200R. Seemed to me that his handles better but I think that is due to the 19" front tire and the fully adjustable suspension. I am 5' 7" and I could pretty much flat foot his bike as easily as mine although my legs were quite a bit straighter when I was standing.
