Carb is definatly cheaper to tune.

I'd like to see some side by side performance tests.
I have no doubt that the EFI system can produce more precise performance than a carbed system. Provided you have the right tuner module, a good dyno tech., and the $$$ to get the setup on the money. But then is a .1 second difference in the 1/4 mile worth an extra $500 ?

Not much of a comparison because I went from carbed sporty to an efi bagger. But I will say this I miss the freakin carb, a lot easier to tune and a lot less money spent getting it tuned.

If yer havin problems, I got a thunder max unit and it's been great!!! It's alittle more then some up front 869.00 retail, but no need for dyno runs & I can tune it with my pc from my work bench. I paid about 670.00 for mine shop around if your interested.

I've been thinking about going to a T-max, I'm using a pcIII right now and not really having much trouble except for a little decel pop. I just keep hearing that the T-max is the best way to go, who knows I may give it a shot. Thanks, for the compliments about the bike.

Hello everyone! Thank you all very much for your responses. A friend of mine has a carb 1200 and we just had this discussion the other day, so I was just curious. I like the carb, if only for the fact that I think it will be more in demand as the years go by and will retain a greater resale value. Anyway, thanks.P.S. As far as the dude being blocked. I joined the forum yesterday and made the mistake of utilizing my American right to have an opinion and he decided to attack me. He drew "first blood" and I shot back. My bullets were bigger. His frail ego was hurt and he decided to keep shooting. I decided to move on and started this string. He just will not let it go as you can see he keeps on chasing me.It is as simple as that. Thanks again everyone.

Well what ever went on, hope you guys can get past it.

I have found the kid to be one of the cooler cats on here, I was/am expecting the same out of a cat claiming to be a 81 supporter.

The only EFI sporty I've rode was stock exhaust and stock a/c. It had been too long since my carb sporty was stock that I can't really make a comparasion. I will say that when the EFI sporty's were introduced, I was initially disappointed that my bike was a carb. I had never done any carb work at all, other than on lawn mowers. I had done plenty of computer programming, so that sounded like a better deal to me. I discovered the carb work isn't too difficult. I'm no mechanic, but I can read, research and follow directions.

I think one day the EFI will be much better. However, from reading here it seems the EFI bikes have had a lot of first year problems with the EFI. Not so much with the fuel system itself, but more so with the changes in the electronics that were required to support the EFI. And until the folks that do the remapping get a lot more experience, it's gonna be a crap shoot everytime you try to adjust the EFI bikes. I'm now glad my bike is a carb bike.

As far as resale...that's not an issue for me. I don't plan to ever part with my Sporty. And it wouldn't really matter anyway. Too many miles for any resale value here.
