My 1200 R idles at 950 and seems very happy. The 883 C sounds a little faster when it settles down and is happy, but no Rev Counter. I understand that below 750 rpm the EVO engine does not pump sufficient oil to be safe. ......... BC

Should be between 950 - 1050 for good oil flow and pressure.

I have an 89 1200 Sporty and I am doing that today becauce I just rebuilt my Carb and the manual says Idle speed warmed up should be 950.

I have a 2005 XL1200R and it idles between 950-1,000 RPM. This sounds right to my untrained ear...

Hmmm what about on an Ironhead sporty? Are they supposed to idle at the same range?
