The wife is thinking about a sporty 883 low. I was just wondering if they have a wider tank than the sportsters I've seen, if not is it still the peanut tank and what does it take to fit a little bigger tank. This will be her first bike and we want to take the bikes on longer trips. She told me to order an 09 Road King so I know I will be able to go longer distance than a sporty beforefilling up.Thanks for anyinfo

 

newer bikes , at least the 1200c's have the 4.5 gallon tank.

 

I thought I had the 4.5 on my 08 1200 Roadster...........Nope 3.something and I wish it weren't so.

The 883L has the peanut tank. the customs, the 1200Land the 08 1200r has the 4.5 gallon.

many people love the 4.5 gallon tank for the added mileage between fill ups.

I am not one of those people. I love the peanut tank and could care less that i have to fill up sooner. The peanut is iconic and is friggin sweet looking.

I wouldn't change the 883L tank to the 4.5 gallon for all the tea in china. Cause if i wanted the bigger tank, i'd buy an 883C, or a 1200C or a 1200L. though if you want the low height of the 883L, you'll need some 11inch shocks.

Of course, this is not my bike. And thankfully you're not talking about switching the tank on a nightster...cause that should be against the law!

hey jack attack... you do. the 08 1200r's absolutely have the 4.5 gallon tank.

the 07's and earlier had the peanut.
