i purchased a nice aqua blue tank in like new condition.i then purchased a new in the box aqua blue rear fender,well when i went to put it on i noticed my original tank was bigger(3.3)the aqua blue tank is the peanut tank(2.2). my sporty is 95 883.so i was curious how they decide which 883 gets a 2.2 or 3.3?????

now i dont want to put it on because i dont want a smaller tank

 

Now days they come with 3.3 or 4.5 gallon tanks. Back in '95 there was a 2.5 gallon tank for the 883 and a 3.5 gallon tank for the 1200. That is, if I can believe the source of my information. Currently, they are assigned according to style lines rather than engine displacement lines.
