Adjust some slack in the cable, then remove the Derby cover and the clutch spring and the hex lockplate from the screw, turn the screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE until a slight resistance is felt, if needed turn the screw CLOCKWISE so the hex lockplate fits back, replace spring and Derby Cover. Adjust slack back out of cable, there needs to be between 1/6" - 1/8" freeplay between cable ferrule and clutch lever bracket, ( pull on cable fairly hard right at the lever to judge freeplay) tighten jam nut on cable

I tried that but when I try to tighten the screw it just pushes the plate out towards the derby cover. It doesn't tighten. So I pulled the plate off after the spring and hex nut. There isn't anything else holding that on. Is there anything else I can check short of replacing the cluth? it only has 11,000 on it. It's an 883 with the 1200 upgrade.

If the plate is moving out you are turning it the wrong way, also make sure you put it back together properly.&nbsp\\; I had the same problem after I did some work and discovered i had put it back together backwords.

Ok lets just check and see if I'm putting it back together correctly. Derby cover, spring/nut(spring facing derby), Plate with nut fitting towards derby, behind that is a spacer about 1inch. the clutch was releasing barely but now nothing. It also doesn't seem to have any spring tension to push the clutch back out enough. All the springs that I saw seem ok.

The screw will not get tight. You messed up if you took the ramp assembly out. Get a Manual.

Look I know I need a manual but I'm stuck in WV in the middle of nowhere and Fed ex can't get the book here soon enough. So if someone has acces to one and can tell me what to do i can follow instuctions pretty good. If possible scan the page and send it to me. Thanks

or bigger clutch. new softail coming in a couple of months but I still want to keep the sporty for a bar hopper. I have to much fun on it to get rid of it. So nobody has any idea's? how did I mess up the ramp by taking it out. It just came right out when I took the spring with the nut on it off. Also should they be something to keep the spring nut on instead of just pressing against the derby cover?

I am having the same issue no matter how much I adjust it just won’t go when I release the clutch. Just replaced all of the clutch plates and still nothing.
