have you adjusted the shift rod properly? It has a nut on either end to shorten or lengthen the rod.

Lunchmeat,
The nuts are just jam nuts.&nbsp\\; To shorten or lenghten the shift rod you need to unbolt one end.

the point where the shift lever pivots on the foot peg is&nbsp\\; too tight and it needs to be lubed or the pivots on the linkage need to be lubed. i sprayed a quick shot of penetrating oil on mine and it freed it up...just work it back and forth before you install it. a little bit of rust in there and itll stick . if the linkage moves far enough to engage&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;second gear then it has enough travel to get 3rd through 5th too.&nbsp\\; just try some oil and it should be fine
