I have both a leather and a denim one. Good for breaking the wind, and I have a place to put my cigs and shades.

I've worn many different vests over the years (club patches, backpatch, etc.), and by far the one I recommend is the HD Piston II vest.

Made in Mexico, very heavy duty (including the hardware), adjustable leather side lacing, holds up to years of use in all elements, plain back (in case you wear a backpatch), and the thick leather is perfect if you want to sew on numerous patches on the front, etc.

You can sometimes find these on sale for around $130, and I believe they retail for right at $175.

I'm sure you will hear of other good models, but far as I'm concerned I'll stick with the Piston II vests, even if they might be more expensive than others. In this case it's 'you get what you pay for'.

I've got a denim HD vest with various patches and pins I've put on it. I like having pockets available that I can put my mp3 player, cell phone or sometimes tools or whatever in. The denim stays cool enough in the summer too.

I wear mine sometimes, depending on the weather. My girlfriend bought me the Harley Willie G Skull one a few weeks back for my birthday.

I have a cheap, but fairly good quality one that I got online. Several pins and patches on it. I wear it until it gets above 95 degrees. The pockets come in handy. Put vest extenders on it in the winter and wear it over my jacket.

Hey SportyPig glad to see you back. Are you back for good or are you gonna hang out at that other place more often?

I know that a vest provides protection for your chest and back, but I can't help but think that those $$$ would be better spent on a denim jacket which also covers your arms.
I definitely think they look cool, and that is the one reason I think about purchasing one-the new Iron Jaw Leather Blowout vest.

I really don't wear a vest for any protection. It's mainly for the pockets and might help me keep a little warmer on cool night rides. I also like how they look.
