Default Brake light switch

Had to remove my (aftermarket) throttle grip because the end cap fell off and I may have damaged the switch. S**t!

When I turn on the ignition to test the brake light, neither the front nor rear peddle seems to light the lamp.

I did put a wooden wedge in the lever. How fragle is the thing? I pressume keeping the lever in prevents he actuator from being sheared off or damaged when overlapping the lever.

I don't believe I hurt it. I can hear it clicking.

Thoughts and suggestion appreciated.

Do it again! They are fragile but you really have to work hard to break one (at least I haven't yet... and I drink scotch) and I don't use the lil' 5/32" cardboard; I just be careful when reassembling! May have just misaligned it and the lever is keeping the switch on & brake light is staying on (otherwise rear brake would work).

Have you checked the fuse and the bulb?

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will do the homework when I have time. I have not yet checked anything else, but I surely will. The '94 I used to ridee would shake the bulb right out of it's solder joint. I would hear it rattling and know it was time to replace it.

Could've happened. I had my heated grips professionally installed and they not only broke the brake switch but also broke the filaments in my LED bulbs. Go figure. Anyway, they replaced the switch and the bulbs and all's good again.

If you damaged the front brake switch the rear would still work unless you damaged it so bad that it shorted and blew the fuse, I would check that and the bulb first.

+1 on the bulb, that is, if the rear pedal would make it light up before.
