Default Iron/nightster (Canadian Ver.)

This is for Canadian members, but still may interest some.

Hi guys, just found out that Canadian Gov. regulations force Harley to modify the Iron and Nightster's rear fender to include a brake light and rear mounter plate.

Harley will use the 883L's rear fender, brake light etc.

Actaully I thought you guys would have the Euro version that has a plastic tag bracket/light hangin off the centerline of the nightster short fender and of course the tall shocks.

Great, now everyone has to spend $500.00 to make it look like it should.

That's what I figured as well, but that's not the case. Seen the pics. 883L rear end

I purchased my '09 Nightster in Nov. 2008, but being snow country I don't pick itup until mid April. (warrenty thing)

I hope they don't make the change to my bike as I purchased a floor model. Headed to the dealer today to find out.

Default please help

I've got a serious tale of woe.

I live in Canada and my beloved Nightster got hit by a big truck while parked. It's a 2008 version with the license plate mount on the side.

It looks like it will be a write off, so I need to get a new one. However, the Canadian versions now have the license plate and tail light on the back fender.

A few questions:

1. Does anyone know if we can import a US version Nightser, or does it need to be modified to satisfy the Canadian Regs?
2. Does anyone know how much of a difference there is between the Canadian and US Nightsters and if it's possible to modify a Canadian one to look like the original, US version?

Thanks a bunch,
Raz

I imported mine last year. Did the federal inspection at Canadian tire. No problem.

Differences are like stated above. Big honking tail/brake light, on a larger fender with the license plate bracket.

I can't imagine why anyone would prefer a cluttered fender with that huge tail light, but to each their own.
