Default +2 on an 883 Low

Do you recommend 2 people on a 883 Low.

The stock seat is not setup for this and I have heard that the stock suspension is not setup for it either?
Thinking into the future of maybe a 2 person ride.

So what happens if your adoring female fans want to ride?

But you love the 883 low stock looks and have no plans to trade it right now and looking to mod?

Just get a 2-up reach seat and passenger pegs, adjust the shock pre-load and off you go.
Short trips you'll be fine but for longer trips it might be a little uncomfortable. It's all in what you guy's can put up with..

I put a HD wide and soft passenger pillion on mine and tightened up the rear shocks 1 notch and it runs perfectly fine. But you HAVE to tighten up the shock that 1 notch. You'll give your girl a jarring hit if you don't. Trust me.

I haven't tried it yet on mine, but just with me I have the pre-load to the max. The manual states that the suspension is not suited for 2up, and you need to buy the 2up suspension in order to do so, at least properly.

Get a tandem seat, ratchet the shock up to the max, install passenger foot pegs, increase the tire pressure for the added weight and have a great time. I see folks 2-up on an 883 all the time around here during the season.

You guys must have way better roads than here in Pa and no speed bumps.Mine drags on some speed bumps 1 up.Cranking up the shock preload will not prevent that.Pillions will allow a second rider but if she doesn't have a built in pillion of her own she won't like it.A girl with a small back end will feel every bump.I had to buy a second Sportster for that very reason.Works better for me than a built in pillion on her.

Depends on the size of the chick. Small girls on my bike...not a problem. Large girls....NOT FUN. I think that works out good.

"Sorry, my bike's suspension isn't set up for that much passenger weight."

I ride with my wife all the time on my 883. I originally had the passenger pillion, and just recently got a Sundowner. She likes the new seat a lot better, haven't looked at adjusting the shocks yet.
