Default Bike smells of fuel when running.

Recently had a 5000 mile service done on my 2007 XL1200C. Since the bike has been serviced there is a strong smell of fuel from the pipes whenever the bike is running, certainly far more than prior to the service. Pipes seem to soot up more quickly too. Have not got around to checking my plugs yet. Any thoughts?

Could be an exhaust leak. But that does not explain the soot thing. The bike could be running really rich. The only reason I could think the bike could suddenly start running rich would be the 02 sensors going bad which should throw a light.
