front tire starting to crack
i was cleaning my 05 1200c today and noticed the front tire was starting to get little dryrot cracks on the sidewall, the bike is well maintained and always garaged if not being ridden..so i call the dealer and the guy tells me that is considered normal wear and tear, i said how is that? the tread is perfect and the tire is cracking? he said it would not be covered under any warranty..the bike was brand new last august..im not to sure what is and isnt covered under warranty but i think i was getting blown off by this guy..can someone please let me know if they think this should be covered..also he told me that it is dunlops problem and i said to him i was not the one to choose dunlop when the bike was new.and the tire is stamped harley davidson on the side of it(manufactured by dunlop for harley)
They should be under warranty and you may have a claim. I have to see where I put the information on the tires when I bought my bike, but when you buy a car they give you earranty information on the tires, but you have to deal with the tire company not the car company about the tires, so he may be right about going to the tire company. Look through your papers you got when you bought the bike and see if their is tire information there.
From reading the warranty it sounds like you should have been able to get it replaced at the Harley dealer but as is usually the case they want no part of the resposiblity. So I would check and find who sells Dunlops in your area and take it to them.
thanks for the replys! first thing monday morning i will call harley davidson corporate office(ii can find the number)and get to the bottom of it ..if they tell me its covered ill then let everyone here know its not a dealership and that it is a stealership..alsif anyone has had any tire warranty issues please let me know how you made out..thanks
I think you should get a replacement under warranty if the tread is good and the sidewall is cracked that does not sound normal. I'd talk to Harley directly if possible. Hope you get this issue resolved, good luck !!

I would call both HD and Dunlop customer service and see if you can get anywhere with them. My brother had some problems with Dunlops on his car and their customer service hooked him up and took care of him. Good luck
