Posted a thread a while back about pipe and carb pooping on my 2001-1200 Sporty. After reinstalling the baffles and a spark plug change, I illiminated the pipe pooping upon decent but still experienced excessive carb pooping. Deceided to take the bike to our local Harley hospital and have it checked out. Had the carb cleaned and the jetting checked to make sure everything was correct. After two days the service manager called and said it was ready to go. The tec took it out for a spin and said the bike was running fine now. I was told that it is the nature of Sportys to be cold natured and poop or lug until engine temps. reach max warmup. I have a 2001- 883 that is 100% with no hesitation right after startup. Is this cold natured info, correct, and does anyone else experience this with their bike? Dont know if Im buying the Harley story.
My 2001 starts quick but does give a few carb farts until gets up to Operating Temp.. After that, it runs strong so can live with it a couple minutes on a cool morning ..
Picked the bike up this morning from Harley. Expereienced the same problem. Called them, then and took it back and suggested raising the low end jet one size as suggested by Prodrag 1320. Took it out after the rejetting was done and guess what, problem resolved. Thank you to Prodrag 1320, your the man........
if my bike were pooping everywhere 1st i'd smack it on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and if it did it again i'd rub it's nose in it...after that we're gonna havta get out the ol'Ruger
Thanks for the correction on the spelling error. 4am is a little early for me to post, but you got to admit that (notfried) answer to this post was pretty funny, at least it cracked me up, and all the people in the house here. Cant wait for his next one liner.
