brake/tail light help!
I bobbed the rear fender on my sons 2001 Sportster 1200 Custom Sunday and was checking the wiring to see how I could get rid of the junction panel that was attached to the tail light when I blew some sort of fuse or link. I now have blinkers but no tail lights or brake lights.
All the fuses in the side panel are good. Could it be that gray fuse block under the seat attached to the fender with one bolt in the center? Any ideas? Also do you know if I can hard wire to get rid of that panel we already had the blinker converted to running / brake lights in preparation for the bob job. PS every thing worked well after the bob job so I know I did not cut a wire.
Thanks Steve in TN

Hi there your problem sounds fustrating.
Just checking:if you filldled with the handle bar controll system accelerator side,be extra carfull of the little rubber switch that gets pushed by the brake lever.if this is not re-installed properlly both rear and front brake lights wont work.
Just a long shot but if it helps ....
Hope your son is back on he's bike soon.

1st Check the bulb socket for power, then check the wires back to the rear brake actuator, then back to the fuse box. Do you have front running lights? change the bulb and check if the ground wite is still connected.. Good luck ...mark...
I have an 03 and just ditched the tail light assy. I had a similar problem. You can map the wiring coming from the turn signal module and run the turn signal wires directly to that. You'll have a few wires left over.
It was kind of a pain to do because none of it worked correctly unless every bulb & wire was hooked up & functional. Try putting it all back together & see if it works...?
