Default the carb has a cough

Ok so I have a 03 sporty 1200. and I when im driving down the road doing about 35 or so the carb just coughs. And it only does it at that speed. but if i pull the choke out just a little bit. like maybe 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch the bike runs great at 35. Any ideas. Any help would be nice. thanks

If the choke helps, it must be starving for fuel.

Check your filter or where you get gas and the quality of the fuel. My 2006 coughs here and there. It's the nature of the carb. They all do it. I think it's pretty neat, actually.

they do that kind of thing. Stage 1 can help but not eliminate it entirely.

S&S only does that when shes dirty in my experience, if thats a cv carb dunno i only put the OEM cv carb onto bikes i'm selling but like dude said i'd adjust the fuel enrichment some, super simple job on a S&S its a screw ya twist a couple degrees to adjust lean or rich.

1. Add B-12 carb and choke cleaner to your gas carb might be a little gummed up
2. Adjust the Air / Fuel Screwe on the carb a little

Sounds like its starving for gas

well I just had the carb re-jetted. It was actually running really rich. it is the stock carb on the bike. It still has has the harley bar and shield on it. I'm not sure what carb that is. and I have not been able to find a srcew to adjust the air and fuel mixture.

Get your service manual the adjusting screw is in the back of the carb if they rejetted it then they already drilled out the plug and you should be able to use a small reg screwdriver and adjust it to fine tune your carb.
