07 883 custom?
Im looking to get a new bike, I liek the sportster line, but the only one i could really afford is a 883, Im not sure if IM to big for one tho, Im 5'10 245#.
I wont be upgrading it to a 1200 or anything, it will just be somthing for gas mileage, I just dotn want to look like a monkey humpin a foot ball
Any thoughts? Also is the fuel injected 07's having any issues since it is new to the sporty?
Thanks a bunch for you help.

RE: 07 883 custom?
the 883 is a great bike as for your size it should fit you just fine I personally went with the 1200 so I would not WANT later on down the line as for the fuel injection HD has been making it for while so I wouldnt worry about that my only thing is now every time you go to change any thing with the pipes or etc you have to monkey around with a computer--my 2 cents

The 07 883 FI are super! I've just gone over 500 mi on mine, I do plan on the 1200 kit this winter. The 883 has plenty of power and won't be a problem for you for casual riding. Like so many have said here, don't worry about your size, the bike will handle you fine. Most of us didn't get the bike we chose based on what we thought others would say. Get what you can afford and what appeals to you. All the sportys are very close in price.

I don't think your size will be an issue. I'm 6'1" 215. Have put over 6,000 on my 883L (most of my height is from the waist up) and the size of the bike is fine. I am going to get a larger bike in the spring, but that's because I want something better suited for LONG rides. I'll keep the Sporty for around town riding.

RE: 07 883 custom?
I have an 06 1200 Custom which I ride to work every day.... it's just now starting to get 50mpg after turning 3,000 miles... it has a lot of stock chrome on it, which I have to keep polished or it will tarnish and rust (I ride everyday)... don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and fast, but... I'm thinking about getting an 07 883 Custom to ride to work every day, and let the 1200 sit in the garage... the wife might take it out once in a while to go riding with me and my friends, or I may take in on the weekends, who knows...
the 883 is $2,000 cheaper, which amounts to about $30 less per monthly payment, about 20% cheaper on insurance based on CC's and cost, it gets (60mpg) 20% better gas milage than my carburated 1200, it runs on 87 octane which is cheaper than the 93 octane the 1200 runs on, it has less chrome to polish (engine, back wheel, etc.) no cold-start problems, back-firing, couching, or choking out with the fuel-injection, it has louder stock pipies than the 06's, and it has a fuel guage and a clock... there are a lot of practical / economic benefits to an 07 883 as opposed to ANY MODEL previous year Harley.
then again, if you want more power, more chrome, etc. then move up to a 1200, or a Dyna, or keep on going to a Softail, Road King, Electra Clide....... the sky's the limit, but the fuel-injected 883's have to be the easiest to keep clean and the cheapest to own and operate.
