Is there a trick to getting the cable out of the front end on my wife's 1991 Sporty?
I've tried to turn it counterclockwise and it just spins.

 

So I've determined that there is a fitting that is pressed into the front end on the bike, and the speedometer cable unscrews of the the back of that fitting. I can upload pictures if anyone thinks it will help.
I've found my speedo cable is broken in half so I'l be replacing it anyway.

 

I got a 94, and there's a tiny set screw that holds the speedo cable in down at the bottom of the fork. I was stumped when I first tried to take mine off untill i really wiped all the grease and road grime off down there and saw the little pin hole with the set screw.
