let’s give this a buuump. having the saaaame issue. about to tear into the trans to see what’s going on. 91 883 sporty lurching hard in first and sometimes the ghost 4. i’ve heard some say countershaft issue. any other leads?

 

Ha. I started reading this and realized this is from 2010. I have an 03 and for me the idle has the biggest effect on the bucking and lurching in 1st. People, including myself, love the sound of the low idle but from a performance standpoint it sucks. My bike is terrible in 1st with the idle set on the lower side.
