Default Idle problems

I got 500 or so miles on this bike now and I am about sick and tired of the carb farts and stalling at stoplights. It doesn't matter if the bike is cold or hot, about every other stoplight, unless I work the throttle, the idle drops and the bike stalls.

What do I need to do to cure this? Will tweaking the mixture help this? My new pipes should be here Monday or Tuesday, will the decreased pressure help?

Remind us what year bike this is. If new it's probably the ol' EPA lean settings. farting & spitting back through the carb is usually a too lean symptom. But it could also be an intake leak, so you might want to check that. If you put new freer flowing pipes on the problem is gonna get worse. If the bike is still under warranty take it in and make 'em fix it.

I had a simular problem the other day when my bike sputtered and quit at a stop light. A HD mechanic told me that I might have an intake leak because he could hear it. I could not hear the sound he was refering to. Perhaps my ear is not as trained and experienced as his. But on the other hand, I do not fully trust those HD mechanics because they are always telling me to get rid of the Ironhead and get an a new EVO LOL.

have you gotten your icm reflashed from your dealer. this was a big one over in that other forum you're in dws im sure youve seen it over there. you can check for an intake leak by putting a small amount of soapy water over the gasket wear the carb meats the air filter. this has been a common place for leaks from what i have heard and also the 04/05 models i have heard have had problems with the plastic backing of the air filter cracking and braking on a few people already. might want to check that also. carb farts are also caused by a lean condition of the fuel mixture. have you paid your taxes? if the carb was rejetted and whoever did it put the wrong jet in that could cause a lean condition and result in the carb farts. or it could be as simple as the idle mixture screw needs to be adjusted. only a 1/4 turn and test afterwards. has any of this stuff been done?
