Default adjustment

Over the summer, I cleaned up the carb and re-adjusted it. I think it is still a little off though, after riding it daily these past few weeks. The bike runs a lot smoother if i leave the choke about 1/4 in open. It idles smoother and backfires less when letting go of the throttle while riding. Is my carb too lean or should I adjust the idle screw a little higheR?

Possibly a combination of both the mixture and idle. Might wanna check the plugs to see how they look - might give ya an indication of what needs adjusting.

The idle screw should be 2.5-3 turns out. If you have changed your intake and exhaust, you may have to turn it out another .5-1 turn.

+1 - But note that it's the idle mixture screw, not the idle speed screw, that needs adjusting.
