Well took the bike in to get timing checked and found out the voes was leaking and seeing as the guy already had a half hour into trouble shooting I let him finish the job now installing a new voes when I start it it takes a really long time for it to get to normal 900 rpm idle. The only other thing that I think could have effected the idle with voes not working is I had adjusted the air/fuel mixture , could this be the culprit that changed the way the biles idle is? Once the bike is fully warmed up it idles fine. By the way the tech didn't have to change the timing it was 35 right on from what I set it at, I wanted it checked because I couldn't get it timed past 25-30 and the line on the pickup cup was dancing around.

Not sure about your timing question but I've had two EVOs and been around many more, they don't like to idle well when cold, that's part of the reason for the enricher. My current 94 starts with the enricher on, if I close it the motor dies so I use the locking **** on the throttle to keep it going. Once warmed up it has the nicest Harley "blub-blub-blub" idle you ever heard and it idles slow. If you adjusted the carb with a defective VOES then I would readjust because a vacum leak can change your carb set-up.
There's alot of good info on carb adjusting here, I check for air leaks, then I just run the bike until hot, turn the screw in until it stumbles, back it out until it evens out and give it a half turn more-out. If the screw ends up any more then 2.5 to 3 turns out then I rejet.

Thanks, I think I will readjust the carb like you suggest and all will be on even playing ground.
