Default 03 riser help

I have an '03 1200 custom with (I think) a 5 inch riser. I am looking at putting 14" apes onto it, but want to get rid of the riser. I know I will still need some sort of riser (or least I have been told) still, but am needing some help on where I can go to get one.

My speedo sits over my tank, so I know I will need a new bracket for that. I have done some searching on the forums and read that you can relocate it. I don't want to do this, because most of the ones I have seen are mounted to the side of the bike. I want to keep the speedo where it is at, just flip it around so it doesn't hit the tank.

I have also read that you can use the bracket off of a 48, with some modification, to make it work as well. My question to you guys is, if anybody has changed the riser on their '03, how did you do this, and where did you get the parts and hardware?

I have attached some pics of my current setup.

It is definitely doable. I did mine with a bracket I bought from J&P. I can't remember what it originally fir but I think it was for a low. The "c" models are the only models that have that speedo setup. Any other sporty riser will work for that model year. I had to get the bracket, and the light jewel setup I went with a 1 1/2" riser with my HCC 14" apes.

Don't forget, while you're doing all that, change out the bushings too. Get the poly bushings, way better that original.

+1 on the bushings. It's a must do when you switch to apes!

Look around first. You have a pretty good chance of finding them cheaper elsewhere.
