Default Few ?s

Afternoon....I am looking at getting another bike before spring. Money is always an issue and lately a pretty big one. My last bike was a 93 lowrider which was about 5 years ago. I had a 97 sportster 1200 before that. I found an 883 punched out to a 1200. It's a 1987. I guess all I am asking is if the non rubber mounted motor, chain drive and it being a 4 speed going to make it much worse off than a newer sportster? I will be riding on the highway a bit. Not sure if I should save a bit and go bigger. I am 5 10 about 190 lb's.
Thanks...

Dog Bone(Rubbermount) Sportsters alow you to comfortably use the full RPM range.
My 2008 1200R Turns 3,500 rpm at 75 mph
the 883 with Its lower gears, to make up for less power will turn 4,200 rpm at 75
The one and only time I rode a ridged mount It sucked. I walked away from
sportsters because of the vibes..
Don't know about a 4 speed,,more rpm at superslab speeds I bet.
My rubber mount lets a little vibration thru at 3,800 to 4,200 rpm's,,
seems to go away above that.
My Mirrors are useable and parts don't shake off,,I'll keep my Dog Bone Sporty.

Bummer. I'll do some more researching. This has the fat bob tank, drag bars, a wide front end, a 21 spoke front wheek, solid rear wheel. Can get it for 3k.

so yeah, everyone is going to knock on the solid motor mount sportsters, but I love mine, and can ride it all day. As far as mirrors being unusable, I put rubber mounts on my handlebars, and they work fine.

I guess I should add,,the one Solid mount I rode was the XLCR1000 back In the 70's.

There are riders I know who have solid mounts and no complaints, very true.

I was sitting next to one at a light,,,we BOTH were doing the Harley Idle dance,,
His whole bike was shakin,,
I looked down,, my engine was shakin more than His,,less mass being somewhat
Isolated,,and my front end had some shake.

But what I remeber most about that XLCR was My feet wanted to move off the pegs
and I was not going fast.
the mirrors were stock mounted and I never saw a thing In them.
It was not for me.

I had the cash and was Itchin to buy that bike,,,Ok Ok so I was a wussy XD
