So my 48 is healthy as ever. The derby cover has been replaced and the light fixed. I thought there was a problem with the tranny because I had trouble downshifting but I realized that my 06 883c had the same problem. It's not a consistent problem...but sometimes when I try to downshift the gear will get stuck so I have to release the clutch and then try again. It happens like once an hour. Anyways, I'm riding every chance I get. <3 it!
damnit...I asked myself what are the odds of me buying 2 brand new bikes and both of them having f**ked up trannys. Figured it was a Harley thing. Guess it's not. WTF
The gears should be switched while the bike is rolling. If it is sitting still the gears may not switch because of the design of the transmission. I wouldn't call it a problem, you just have to learn how stuff operates.
THat is weird cause I have the same problem with my 06 883 but not when running down the road or anything just when bike is turned off
You're trying to shift the bike when it's parked? If so, the difficulty you're having is that the gears need to be some what lined up before they mesh together. If you rock the bike back and forth you'll be able to place it in gear easier; though, you should have already have it in the gear you want by the time you park it.
no...this is when I'm driving. The gears slam pretty hard sometimes too.
Haha, I was asking to jthepipeguy38. The slamming of the gears happens pretty hard downshifting from 2nd to 1st as it passes neutral. That's normal. If it's slamming hard at any other point then check your friction zone. If that's OK, evaluate your clutch work and shifting patterns. JMHO
