Default Neutral?

New Harley owner & new rider- I have an 06 Denim Street Bob. I love it. When the dealer said "fists in the wind" boy was he right!

When the bike is running, I can't get it into neutral. Is this normal? I don't have a problem when it's shut off, just when it's running (ie- at idle).

Great forum, guys. I love it here.

Mine is kinda tricky,...not very easy,...but can be done,,..I don't think that's normal,..I'd get it checked out. It could be just a slight adjustment to the clutch.

Have the dealer run a check on your VIN to see if the tranny recall has been performed yet.

They were abit tough to hit neutral before this work was performed. After it is easier and more positive.

It is easier on mine to find it going from 1st gear upshift, it is a little sensitive on the the downshift have to have a really light foot.

Now that my recall work is done, I find myself hitting neutral by accident way too many times. They did too good of a job, I guess.

Was a little tricky at first, but now that I have the hang of it, not a problem...

Its just because you think your in first when your really in second, or somewhere in between. When that happens try easying out on the clutch a little while at the same time keep your foot on the shifter with a little pressure, you'll feel it slip down onto first gear, then just give a bump to neutral. Took a little while but now I have the hang of it. I'm going to check with my dealer anyhow, my bike was made in early march so I just figured they had the Tranny thing worked out with the newer bikes.

I have no problems selecting neutral whether it is running or not. Get it checked.
