Default cleaning/polishing primary

Any advise on how to brighten up my primary,cam,drive pully covers they are not chrome, I guess its alum/or pot medal and kind of dull and I know the could be made brighter any Ideas on techques or product to use?

It's aluminum. You have to get the clearcoat off first, then just polish and polish and polish. Check out this write up from a diesel forum. It's the same process for our rockers, primary, cam, and pulley covers.

Be forewarned, it is a lot of work. It will pay off, though.

I use Mothers aluminum polish applied with a Mothers polishing ball, that fits into a drill. That improves this process to just a royal pain, and waste of a day. LOL.

I use wenol polish,was not aware that the covers were clearcoated.

Autosol is the best metal polish I have ever used.

It's not a clearcoat in the sense of painting. It's more of a protective coating that happens to be clear. You'll see the same thing on cast aluminum wheels of cars.

I have used the Harley Metal Polish and it works fine. It's a boring job but it's worth it afterwards.
