Default torque specs on pinch bolts on 48

seen this adressed in a post the other day, but cannot locate it now... anyone know right off the top of your head what it should be?

I'd have to go look it up. but if your gonna wrench your own bike, the best tool worth the money is the Manual. you'll always use it and if you sell your bike you could sell the manual for a little less than what you paid for new.

Assuming that you're referring to the triple tree pinch bolts, it's 30-35 Ft Lbs

FYI - These are generic values that appear to be for (unknown vintage) Big Twins, not Sporties.
While many of the values may be the same or close, it would be foolish to rely on them.
EXAMPLE: Bikes with hollow vs solid axles have very different torque requirements and using the wrong one could be a fatal mistake.

Get and use the correct Service Manual for your bike.

thank you! the manual is def. on my to do list, wanted to get torqed down so i could go ride.. i love florida!!

Scroll down and you will see torque values for specific size fasteners...these values never change...never have, never will.

You're right, as long as every fastener on your bike is a Grade 5. But we know that's not the case, and a newbie who doesn't know better could easily be misled into making a costly error based on that info.

Penny wise, pound foolish.
