Nice Idea and outcome, but i would put a wingnut on the one end so you can open it without a tool.

Cool idea. Would also be a good place to put a couple spark plugs if you have a turd Ironhead...like mine.

Looks like alot of work to remove the items inside. Maybe you could solder brass nuts to the inside of the caps then use thumb screw bolts to remove it from the L brackets eaisily. (Maybe solder one of the caps on too) That way your threaded rod isn't taking up most of the room inside the tube.

Great idea.
Use the wing nut on the bolt that holds the license, would be easier to remove the L-bracket and cap as a unit I would think.

This is what's great about these forums, the collective conscious that it creates. I like this idea, and you're right I need to free up the space and eliminate the threaded rod. I'll be messing with this some more to refine the design. Thanks everyone for the thoughts, and comments, May the new year bring many safe rides.
