Upper engine noise.
One thing that myself and most of the 'old timers' I've been riding with for years do is to add a few ounces of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer to the oil at every oil change.
Besides eliminating 'dry starts' it does wonders to help quiet the valve chain clatter in Harley V-Twin engines.

Both 'blends' seem to work equally well no matter if you are running dino or synthetic fluids in your engine.

Yeah I'm going to buy some tomorrow. I have another question. I'm used to down shifting to slow down. The trannie hits pretty damn hard. Is that okay? Or should I wait until I am at a light to go back to first? I just don't want to mess anything up since this is my main ride. Opinions?

There's been a few threads with some debate, but the prevelant idea is that downshifting is a good thing to do. It keeps you in the right gear so that if you need to 'escape' you can without having to clutch and shift into the proper gear to prevent lugging or hitting the limiter. Besides, the noise is one more thing to get the attention of the driver behind you. Any extra wear will be minor, and will most likely not be the cause of engine/tranny failure.
However, if it's jerking hard and your body is moving forward when you let out the clutch, then it sounds like you may be relying a little too much on the engine to break. Use a combination of mostly breaks and a little motor and you'll be fine... it should be smooth or you're downshifting at a little too high of speed for the gear you're going into.

Thanks bro! I just noticed that the trannie hits(clicks) real hard downshifting. When it is standing still, it clicks smoothly. I know that is standard issue, just want opinions.
