Today was my first day full day of ownership on my 48 and I was amazed at the improved visibility with the mirrors mounted under the handlebars. I thought people were primarily doing this on other models to copycat the look, but now I understand.

Oh yeah!! I was the same way that was the first mod I did when I bought my bike. Congrats on the new bike.
I guess it takes a certain combination of bars, mirrors, rider position, etc. to make it work. I just know that my current set-up is a dramatic improvement from what I had.
The view was much better when I flipped my mirrors but it did cause me one problem. I would go to make a quick lane change and I would be looking above my bars not below them to check the lane for traffic. Took me a bit of time to get used to looking in the right location.
