Project Side shifter.
Here is the side shifter I am installing on my 06 Sporty. I will add pic's when done and give my thoughts on the whole thing once I ride it. The Co wants $400, I have a welder friend of mine who will build it and the cable for $100. We'll compare when finished.
That looks like a nice set-up. I have put suicide shifters on sporty's before and we always went with the cheap easy method. Weld the shifter to the stock foot shifter tab, or bolt it on, and make the clutch a hand clutch on the shifter. Re-using your stock hand shifter works well and save money.
Yeah, man!!!! That is a fine lookin' piece. I'd definitely like to see your pics. And for reference, what is the company that makes the 4-bill one?

Ah, I see it's made by LaBriola. That's who made my FLST suicide clutch setup. Well made, excellent chrome.
One thing I really like about a suicide clutch is you never have to adjust the clutch cable!

They're definitely cool, but I've got to ask: How do you get used to shifting with the suicide? It seems like it would make me a bit nervous at an uphill stoplight or stoplights in general.
This would make great sense on a trike, but on a bike?
Hmmm. Le'see... left foot on the clutch, right foot on the brake... oh oh, I'm falllllllllling ooooooover!

Switch the brake lever to the left side of the bike, or a line lock like on drag cars. Push the button in when you stop on a hill, bike will do nothing until you start to disengage the clutch at which time the line unlocks automatically and your away. Ill keep you posted.
I've ridden foot clutch/hand shift permanently since 1981, and off & on before that. You get used to it, like anything else. As long as you still have a front brake, what's the big deal? As you come to a stop, foot clutch in, rear & front brake on. Just before stopping, drop the right foot to the ground, hold the bike, if necessary, with the front brake.
Where it gets really interesting is when you don't have a front brake! Passengers have to be educated, too. At a stop they CAN NOT lean to the left to talk in your ear! Once they learn that, everything is fine.
I'll be the first to admit there is no practical reason to have a suicide/jockey, but then there is no practical reason for chrome, either. And what other modification screams out "Coolth" more than a rider pushing the clutch in, and reaching out or down to snick the gears with his hand? It's an in-your-face thing that says, "Yeah, I can ride."
