Default New HD Solo Bag!

About two weeks ago when I was browsing around the local dealer, I saw the new HD solo bag for the sportster. I've been looking for a smaller bag for everyday riding and did not want saddlebags, so this seemed like a good replacement. The bag was $220 plus tax. Compared to other solo bags, I felt like this was a reasonable price. The one thing I like the most of this bag is how it is mounted to the bike. You do need to remove the left passenger foot peg FYI.

The metal bracket that attaches to the bike is very sturdy. It attaches where the old passenger foot peg was and clamps around the frame. There is also a separate bracket that juts out from under the battery cover. So essentially 3 hard mount points to the frame.

The bag then mounts to the bracket by means of 3 screws and a nut/bolt. I honestly do not think the bag could be mounted any better or more secure.

I attached a few pictures. Right now I keep a flashlight, extra glasses, gloves, and shock adjuster and there is still plenty of room for other odds and ends.

Bag fully installed

It is pretty snug to the side of the bike

Backside of the bag and the 4 holes where it mounts to the provided bracket

Your bike looks great.
I also fitted one on my Sportster Custom for the same reasons and I'm very pleased. Solid and practical.

We have the HD solo bags on both Fatboys, one Dyna, and the Sporty. Of the three, the Sporty mounting system is the best, if you don't mind losing the passenger pegs. Softail and Dyna both use webbelts, the buckles of which take up way too much room inside - we subbed zipties instead.

The main reason I bought the HD bag was because of its rigid mount.

How much can this bag hold? If it can hold a pair of shoes, jeans and possibly a hoodie I am all over this.

I don't think losing the passenger peg is a good idea. The bag I made accordions to 6" at the bottom. Depending on what is in the bag still gives me the option of using the peg....... I think they could of done a better job IMO..........

I never ride 2-up so loosing the passenger pegs is a non-issue.

For those running the H-D Solo Bag......how much can this bag hold? If it can hold a pair of shoes, jeans and possibly a hoodie I am all over this.

@modular
I also (like xFreebirdx) made my own bag. I used 3 zip-ties to mount it onto my bike. (I did this over the weekend)

If you are going to pack takkies, light jeans and hoodie, I can't see why it would not fit. I fit a bottle of Jack Daniels, a THICK scarf and a pair of heavy-duty, thick gloves into my bag. Oh, and my cell and wallet...

Cheers

ps - I have thought about it and am going to make a round-type (I think it is called a tool-bag) bag to fit on the right-hand side...

My input: I've seen that bag & I think it's a POS. ANOTHER over-priced HD accessory. I also believe it's made in China. But if YOU like it that's all that matters!!!!!

I like the sturdy mounting that comes with the kit where I can just bolt it on and go. No muss-no fuss.
