I bought the HD version years ago its 18inches tall and its about 2 inches two short for me. Horrible helmet buffet with any helmet. I then purchased a Slipstreamer S0-6 Spitfire for about 60 bucks. It's nice having the wind pressure off the chest but its not worth the excessive noise and buffeting it causes either. If i can't get a windshield to produce the same clean air i have without a windshield then i won't use one.

I have the 18" HD QD and I get moderate buffeting on the top of my helmet.
So far I prefer to ride with no WS and a 3/4 helmet with full face shield.

This is a great helmet !
Fits well has slide down half sunshield and great ventilation.

I've used the 18" QD for about a month now...every day ride. I've noticed three things so far:

1 - The chest pressure is just GONE! This in itself is great. 55 into the wind no longer feels like 70. Used to be if I had to drive the truck after riding I'd think I was going a lot slower than I actually was. Now, highway riding is nothing...boring, but no problem.

2 - I can hear my bike now. Before, all I heard was the wind whistling past...between?...my ears and I was starting to use ear plugs every time I rode. Now, I don't need the plugs and I can hear my engine and pipes (stock...yes, they'll get upgraded eventually LOL).

3 - And this is the odd one. I do get the buffeting. I wear a half helmet and I try to make sure it's cinched down not-uncomfortablly tight, which does help. I can feel the air coming up on either side of the tank now, which seems to be the culprit. I definitely didn't have the buffeting before, just the wind trying to move my helmet to the back of my head (I prefer the slight buffet). The odd part is, if I'm riding WITH the wind, I get no buffet at all! Then, my rides are pure beauty.

What really surprised me was the first ride my wife took with me after putting it on, she commented, before I said anything, that SHE could feel a difference in wind pressure...or lack thereof.

It may be a QD, but it stays on now all the time, unless it's bath time.

I got the same helmet and its great but, I've recently started to ride without the shield. I have a National Cycle Dark Tint Gladiator Windshield which does a good job of stopping the wind on my chest and reduces the wind hitting my head. I still get wind in the face with an occasional bug. It gives me almost the same feeling as riding without a helmet and its cooler.

Those vents don't make my head sweat when using the shield but they don't actually make me feel cool either. Its been hitting 90+ around here lately so going without the shield seems to help. I still keep the shield in my bags incase I need to hit a lot of highway riding.

I bought the HD Quarter Faring for my Iron. I am in Dallas, TX; so I didn't want something that will block the wind a slow speed (specially during summer time at over 100) but at 50mph or up get the wind out of my chest but still hit the vent on my full face helmet.

IMO, there is no better windshield on the market better then a windvest. I first had one on my sporty and then my dyna. It looks like its part of the bike and it does more then most bigger windshields because of the design. Even harley knows its the best as they tried to buy windvest out...but they told them to FO

Thats a 14" tinted. The light was catching it just right to where it almost looks clear.
If interested, call Doug at windvest (toll free number on website) to get the right fitimet and then start googling it for the best price. When I bought it new, I found it for like 150 off of retail. He is the mfg and doesn't interfere by trying to undercut his dealers.

Here is another angle:
