I have Metzeler ME880 front and ME888 rear....great tires and performs well....not too sure about tire life.

I also noted with my new compression gauge that it hit ~120psi on the first compression cycle, 150 on 2nd, and ~180 on 3rd on both cylinders.
Is that normal? seems a bit high, as I posted before I have a bit of carbon build up, but 180 with that amount of carbon... maybe higher compression heads/piston???????
Going from memory here...but I think normal is 200-225 on your year model Sporty. 180 is a bit on the low side, but as long as the front and rear cylinders are within 10 psi of each other I would not be concerned.

I've been running the 880's up front for the last 20k+ miles. For me they are a huge improvement over stock. Nice and sticky, & they have lasted well for me also.

I think you'll be pleased with them.

Pretty much the same here, put a 110 (Michelin Commander-II) on
the front so I'm still wondering how it'll handle.

(it's not weather, but a 1250 & other changes holding up riding)

Be careful when you first ride it in the spring, you may forget about the oily mold release residue on the new tires.

Indeed. I just had a new tyre installed and the dealer (my local Yamaha one!) stamped my reciept with a warning about taking care for the first 100 miles. Check pressure at that time too, as new tyres can 'settle'.
