Rush slip-ons and XiED question
Hi,
My Rush slip-on exhausts with 2" baffles are arriving tomorrow. I have the stock air-cleaner and the gentleman from Rush confirmed that I don't need to go for a dyno tune.
My question is - Will getting an XiED (cheap and an effective option from what I can read in various threads) be a good thing to do with Rush slip-ons and stock air-cleaner and can I stay with it till the time I save some $$ for stage-1?
Looking to hear what your experience has been so far if you have any slip-on exhausts with XiED.

Why keep the stock air cleaner? The XIED makes the engine run richer, with a performance cleaner you will see a bigger change.
That's from what I have seen and read, havnt done it yet but I plan to. I like the Rushs as well.

Thanks OddJack! I eventually plan to upgrade the air-cleaner but want to do it as part of actual stage-1 upgrade (full exhaust system + perfromance air-cleaner + dyno-tune). I am confused if I go for the performance cleaner right now, will having only XiED be enough (so the config will be slip-ons+XiED+Perfromance cleaner) or a dyno-tune is a must?
I ran my rush slip ons and big sucker A/C with my XEID's and was happy with the XEID's for what they are. I knew I was going to get a quality tuner and some dyno time so the XEID's were just a temporary solution.
The rush slip ons will give you great sound but openning up the A/C is were you will notice the biggest difference. I would go ahead and put the open A/C on now and enjoy the extra performance now and save up for a quality tuner.
By then you will be ready for a real exhaust system for performance and not just the sound. I made the same mistake.

You don't need anything other then the XEID's when doing your described stage1.
It kinda depends on how picky you are. I wanted my bike to run smooth through all the gears and even on the way to the dyno tuners place I was second guessing my decision...until I rode the bike home after. It wasn't just about the horsepower gains, it was about the smoothness through the gears and the general cruiseability.

You can benefit from Xeids even without changing the exhaust. But to answer your question is the Xeids are all you need. Search and learn about open vs closed loop. What ever you do don't waste your money on a dealership stage 1 download. The Xeids will tell your computer to add full in the closed loop portion of your RPM/throttle range. I had a set on mine before I invested in a PCV. I still have them sitting in my tool box as a backup. They work and they work well.
