as already suggested FOB battery

had the same problem with a Pan America, screen would boot and immediately shut off before you could enter the code.
Was less than a year old (the bike and fob)
hit the turn signal and it keeps the screen active we discovered

Float, You were right. It was the battery. All that weird behavior was supposedly because of the battery.
In my view this is a software issue, edge case of some kind but not really an unexpected occurrence.
As former programmer, and S/H QA engineer this is an obvious condition to test for. BUG!

Local dealership took care of it and did the software updates. Cost me $6.

 

Like some of the other people mentioned, there wasn't enough time to enter the code. I timed it at about 2 seconds and it wouldn't take my input anyway.

 

Thank you for this thread!!!! You all are correct. Can't believe it was just the key FOB battery. I was getting frustrated. I even changed my bike's battery. 🤦‍♂️
