Default Flight recorder question.

Just about to start using my TTS for the first time and think I have read enough to get a recording done. Might have some Vtune questions but when I go for my ride using the recorder what things do I need to do while riding to get a good recording?

The biggest thing to remember it is NOT the length of the ride that counts, it how you ride it. If you run the engine in one RPM range there will not be much to look at so vary the engine speed and load slowly and that will get you much better data to work with.

Ok that's kinda what I figured. I've done this same thing pretty much with my truck and it said idle for a bit then work through all the gears normally and then some fast and reach different rpm ranges and what not. Just wants to check.

I borrowed this from another member here and this is how I am doing the Flight Recordings: Ride your first VTune recordings on side streets and back roads. Take it easy with slow deliberate throttle movements. Try not to operate the motor higher than 3500 rpms or over 50% throttle your first time out. You want to get the lower areas in the calibration close before taking on higher rpms or WOT. Each time you do a Flight Recording, try to gather a little higher rpms and throttle (kPa) cells. Use your gearing and hills as the load. There is no need to speed.

Don't throttle jockey it around, steady throttle and smooth inputs generate the best data. And spend a little bit of time in RPM ranges similar to what you listed in the VE table, using different gearing. After you get a good base map worked out then you can paly and adjust acceleration, etc. Thai's what worked best for me. As Steve said, its not quantity, but quality of data. Choose a variety of roads, hilly up, hilly down, straights, etc. Do some two up as well if you ride double.

Hey fella's...I just put a set of cams in my bike,2010 Wideglide..Set up the flight recorder and did a vtune run and everything worked fine...Loaded the new tune into the bike and headed off for another vtune run and was away for about an hour..When I went to load the new vtune into data master there was still only the first recording and nothing else...Do I have to set the flight recorder to vtune after every run??

Cheers...

Flight recorder mode must be engaged every time you wish to record data.

Ok folks...I have done a few vtune runs as per instructions and have finished up with mostly white cells apart from a few yellow...For now I am going to run with what I have so for my final tune it says to set AFR's to desired values...Does this mean set back to original or leave all at 14.6??? It also say's to set the Adaptive Knock Retard limit back to original but when I do that it just stays at all 0,s...Do I have to copy and past the original into the final calibration??

Hope I am making sense...

Looking further down the help section the step by step table is much clearer and I have worked out the above questions..Thanks again..

Cheers...Sparra
