I've had my sporty for 6 months now and I'm just getting used to it. I manage to control the throttle, the brakes and the leaning much better and have a smooth ride. I have the feeling that I'm becoming one with the bike more and more everyday. Now when I want to speed up I don't squeeze the throttle like a maniac and make the engine cough, but I manage to gradually squeeze it and the engine gets in the high rpm much easier. I don't know why but I wanted to share that with you. Even tho it was 30 outside I had an awesome ride tonight coming back from work, I didn't want it to stop...
Yea, you get it! A couple of folks at work will be new riders this spring, I tell em, find some back road where you won't feel pressure , a mile or two stretch with turns and such. Just go back and forth to perfect the turns and gas control. It takes practice, no question about it. Glad your having fun. btw, you must be young-30 degrees!!!
Aha I'm 27. I saw about 5 bikes today...4 were cops :-). I usually see the same guys on the road when I commute except for the past month. Tho I see some HD riding around town once in a while...or I hear them nearby :-)
Take your time and enjoy your ride, the skills will either come or not (but chances are if you are riding in 30 degrees, you enjoy it too much to quit).
I rode all last winter here (some days as cold as 14 degrees) and very rarely saw another bike once the temp fell below 50.
Aha thanks guys! It is one of these things you want to do all of your life and when you finally start doing it you're like "ah, that's it?". To slowly realize how cool it is...
