THUNDERMAX: Thundermax And Warranty
I have a 2012 Roadglide on order. My Harley Dealer calls me today and tells me if I install a Thundermax that I already have ordered it will void my warranty on my bike. Has anyone heard this before???

Not a clue but this looks good. My guess is if he services your bike his equipment will not function correctly. Bet hers does.

I would definitely contact TM on that issue.
How can anyone NOT think it voids the warranty? Go replace the ECM on your Ford; Honda; Chevy, etc and see what happens with the warranty there.
Because its a Harley, some folks simply act goofy.
And with the TM, you are not even replacing with 'like kind' ECM. The TM is an old alpha-n controller and not even speed density.
PLUS... to the OP, do you KNOW you HAVE to replace the pipes to even think about running that TMax? You know that, right? You HAVE to have an 18mm bung to run the broad band sensors and your bike only has 12mm bungs as it comes from the factory.

Go tune a Duramax of a Camaro and see what happens to your warranty. GM voids powertrains if EVER the ECM was reprogrammed... no putting back to stock as GM can tell if their ECMs have EVER been programmed.
Warranties are to cover manufacturers defects for x number of miles AS PRODUCED... not as you changed it into. Warranty is insurance to the consumer that the vehicle will perform AS PRODUCED from the factory... NOT AFTER YOU CHANGE IT.
Get real.
ANY tuner voids the warranty on almost all (frame not part of powertrain) of the items you mentioned. ALL of those items are made to withstand the stresses a STOCK configuration can put out powerwise. Add power and the trans, primary, wheels, and engine are no longer within the specs as the bike produced stock.

It was my understanding that if they deny a warranty claim, they have to prove that a specific problem or user change caused the defect or failure. I've been wrong before.

I have read this too and been informed that they have to prove it. Also, they have to put it in writing that it was the actual cause. It was explained that if they refuse to put it in writing, they (the dealership) are in violation of federal law. It seems to be legit.
