I arrived in North Port, FL yesterday afternoon. Drove from just south of Atlanta on I-75 (trailering my bike down for a couple of weeks). Was rarely in the far left lane and did not notice any slow speed, left lane drivers. The real speeders weave in and out of all the lanes so they can go 85 or 90 mph. Those guys are the real danger.

I believe the basic driving rules in all states stipulate that you stay right except to pass where it’s appropriate to do so. And I haven’t taken a driving test since the 70’s. Can’t imagine that’s changed, new “laws” or not.

Keep in mind, It's directed at 65 MPH roads only. And hopefully you will be able to open up spaces for merging traffic legally.

Canada is the only country I have seen signs on their freeways that say Open Up Spaces before their entrance ramps.

What they ought to do is just remove the speed limit signs. Then it would be a lot less crowded out there.

The reason we need the Move Over Law is a whole lot of people already think they have removed the Speed Limit Signs.

Removing the speed limit would fix two birds with one stone and you also wouldn't need to try to enforce a unenforceable law.

The ones down here in the left lane are those coming back from cataract surgery. Your lucky their not in the middle of two lanes following a line.

I think we are just stuck with those not being courteous and moving over are not going to pay any attention to anyone but themselves.

My first traffic stop was in 1974, on I-95 in Connecticut. I had been driving a couple of months, and a State Trooper lit me up, I was in the left lane.

He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I said “No. I was going the speed limit.” He replied “Exactly. Get the Hell out of the left lane. It’s the passing lane. If you’re not passing, get in the right lane.” I wish that trooper was still around every day I drive to work, stuck behind 2 old ladies, or fat girls on their phone. Wisconsin has signs saying slow traffic keep right but people going the speed limit don’t consider themselves as going slow.

The get out of the way systems breaks down when cops are afraid to make traffic stops and they aren’t stopping people going 105 in a 70. It’s a jungle out there.

No lane discipline regardless of speed seems to be the norm in America.

If there was no speed limit someone would still be sat in the outside lane with another on their tail expecting them to move over if no undertaking as is the case everywhere else I have driven except America.

With no speed limit when the head of a queue slows down miles of traffic behind grinds to a halt. If the traffic were actually going slower it would take longer for them to reach the slow stuff up ahead and may actually reduce congestion.

Canada is the only country I have seen signs on there freeways that say Open Up Spaces before their entrance ramps.
With drivers on the ball they would do that automatically but if you are a complete arsehole you will block someone from trying to merge just causing traffic problems!

Everything sucks in New Jersey - except Jersey girls. They're the best.

We lived in NYC, going to Jerzey was a 75% chance of getting a ticket if riding a bike. Buddy of mine had parents that lived in Western PA, he would ride "around" Jerzey to see them twice a year on his bike. For those not familiar, take a look at a map, it is not easy to go around NJ from NYC and get to PA, but he did, was worth not getting hassled and a ticket.

The cops don't enforce anything on the interstates, you're lucky to even see them. Maybe excessive speed if you get noticed.
