Default Need Full Coverage Helmet Recommendation

I need to purchase 2 full coverage helmets. Been riding for 40 years but finally moving away from half helmet to full coverage. I have a 2011 Road King. Can anyone recommend a Full coverage with communcation capabilities?

My first ff helmet, many years ago was a Bell Star. Weighed about 45lb, but I felt safe.
I recently got an AGV K6. It is Carbon and aramid, so it's super light, but strong. I added a Cardo Pactalk and it works great. You'll want to dig into various helmet certifications. Being DOT rated is just a start.

I appreciate the visor mechanism, the visor lock is great, the vents work, and the feather weight is good for long trips. It has a chin wind guard that keeps the noise down. 5 stars for me.

I bought from Revzilla and needed to exchange for a larger size, which they happily did.

You can put comms in nearly any good FF helmet.

My recommendation for a great helmet is to buy once, cry once. There are basically 2 types of helmet heads; Shoei heads, and Arai heads. If you can possibly find a dealer that might let you try each of these brands on, that would be great for you.

I am a Shoei head, and I like modular helmets, so I have the Neotec 2 when I wear a FF. The RF1400 is another great lid.

Good luck!

I have an Arai head. Spend the money and buy the helmet that is most comfortable for you. More money means more comfort, better air flow etc. if you find the right helmet you can wear it for hours with virtually no issues
put them on and walk around for twenty minutes or so. Helmets my feel great when you first put them on but the “hot spot” may no rear it’s ugly head for a bit

Tracer Bullet is correct about trying on the helmet. If a ff helmet is new to you, it may feel tighter but that is a more proper fit. I guess this is just a note to seek a tight, but not strangling, fit.

Like a new pair of leather boots, the fit will loosen in time.

I prefer modular even though they are a bit louder. Far as I'm concerned it's either c5-(4?) pro (Schuberth) or Neotec (Shoei)

I agree, get a modular, the high end ones such as Schuberth or BMW are very quiet. I have a BMW System 7 carbon fibre helmet with the Cardo Packtalk Bold communication system installed. The nice thing about this helmet is the front section is removable so you can convert it to a 3/4 helmet if you want.

But not all helmets fit all heads.

Not to side track this, but I stopped by the dealer yesterday to set up an appointment to have a recall done on my Street Glide. While there I checked out helmets. My 3/4 is over 10 years old and I have been contemplating replacing it. They have a 3/4 with face shield that will move up and down. Plus it has a dark shield that you can pull down for day ride. Looks like a good helmet and I'm thinking strongly about getting it. Normally wear half helmet in warm/hotter months, and current 3/4 during cooler days. I like smoking Swisher Sweet wood tip cigars, so a full face is out for me!
Good luck on your decision!

The most important thing about a helmet is that it fits your head properly. MXJunky's head fits nicely into Arai and Shoei helmets but Bell helmets do not fit without being too loose or causing a headache. You'll want to go to a dealer or two and try on some lids before you lay down any skrilla for them.

HJC makes the HD helmets. I tried the HD 3/4 at the dealer and liked it.
Bought the HJC i30 from RevZilla for about $75 less.....exact same helmet.
Just sayin......
