Put a SDC Saddlemen on it yesterday. Ordered Bung King risers and Thrashing bars today. Hopefully have it all dialed in by next weekend. After the furniture is figured out then it’s pipe/filter and tuner.
I’m 5’5” and went from a Low Rider ST to a 23 Street GlideSpecial with absolutely no trouble at all. I’m now on a 24 Road Glide and couldn’t be happier.
I am currently riding a Street Glide Special and considering a Road Glide. What do you like about the Road Glide better than the Street Glide?

don’t know enough about street glides to make an educated opinion. I’m not a fan of how they look so I’d pass one up anyways. Might be great bikes but I’d never know lol.

Nothing more than the look and something new. Totally honest. A lot of people talk about the frame mounted fairing this and the bar mounted fairing that, well I noticed very little difference in handling. Maybe I’m just not sensitive enough to notice. I imagine that I would want to say that whatever I have now handles the best and blocks the wind the best. On both bikes it took some modding to make them perfect (for me) as far as wind management and comfort. The RG, less so.
I've never been a bagger fan but a couple of months ago I rode a 23 Roadglide home for a friend who was recovering from an accident on his Street glide . I was pretty impressed it road great plenty of wind protection and didn't feel heavy at speed . The two things that was worse than my 22 Heritage where handling and suspension. That new Softail frame is great .
Okay, I'll bite. Just remember, you asked...
New touring bikes weigh too damn much. My 2006 Road Glide weighed much less than an '09+ later ( after the frame change)...Lots of people forget that. But I know the feeling of wanting to downsize.
So...
The '07 - '16 FLSTC is the way to go, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not scared of owning older bikes. Much lower seat height, and so damn easy to maneuver. Weighs so much less than any FL. Engine is counterbalanced, yet still has soul (sounds good). Reliable, "Do anything" bike. Looks so traditional Harley, it's criminal.
(If you're really serious about downsizing).
