Yep. Started out on the old Raven. Was a good forgiving old aircraft. They were just getting the 1st of the TH-55's in then and we had a couple flights in my class who started out in them.
Of course, when I returned to Wolters in late 68 as an Instructor Pilot, I was put in a TH-55 as an Instructor.

Love old films!

Chopper Pilot - shows the training of helicopter pilots by the United States Army, with an emphasis on pre-flight and flight training provided by the warrant officer candidate program at Fort Wolters, Texas and advanced training at the Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Alabama.

You'll see the pilots learn basic helicopter flight techniques using the Hughes TH-55 training helicopter, and then move onto the Bell UH-1 "Huey" for more advanced training.

This film made available courtesy the Department of Defense, National Technical Information Service, and the National Archives and Records Administration http://www.archives.gov/

WDTVLIVE42 - Transport, technology, and general interest movies from the past - newsreels, documentaries & publicity films from my archives.
